In five words, describe your place in the sector.
Deer in the headlights.
What first drew you to the sector i.e. Do you have a particular memory of a moment that got you hooked?
I’m remember writing about a Shane Cotton painting in art class at high school and enjoying that much more than actually doing art myself. I’m very lucky that this was an interest I could turn into a job, not everyone gets to do that.
What challenges have you faced in your career so far?
My career is so short I doubt I’ve had any real challenges! Starting new jobs is terribly challenging. So many things to remember!
Has anything or anyone in particular provided you with support?
My whānau above all. They’re always so nice to me even when I’m a pain.
What do you think people at your own level (emerging etc) bring to the sector?
Energy, fresh perspectives, flexibility and a knowledge of new media and technologies.
What is a positive change you would like to see in the sector?
I would like to see more Māori students studying art history in Aotearoa and moving on to work in art galleries.
What is your karaoke song?
Beastie Boys, Intergalactic
